NAFAS Coronavirus Statement
Message from Jilly Griffin
NAFAS Code of Conduct
Message from NAFAS Board of Directors
“When a demonstration is cancelled at short notice, it is hoped that clubs will reimburse in good faith the demonstrator for money already expended on flowers etc. as per the contractual obligations of the Blue Form.
NAFAS asks that Clubs and Demonstrators communicate over any cancellation, and come to an agreement over any payment. We would hope that only out of pocket expenses would be claimed. Perhaps Clubs could put the cancelled presenter to the top of the list when they do the next Club programme. Those who are self-employed will find it hard, but we must balance that against health, sense and making the most of the difficult times we are experiencing.”
The Area and how it is managed
Sussex Area is run by a Council made up of one representative from each of the member clubs. The day to day management is delegated to the Executive Committee, comprising the Area Chairman, Area Vice Chairman, Area Treasurer, Area Secretary, together with the chairman of Judges, Demonstrators, Speakers and Education (JDS&E) committee, Media, Ticket and Programme Administrators.
The Council meets 4 times a year, currently in Haywards Heath. The Area organises several members’ days each year as well as competitions and shows.
The JDS&E committee organises workshops for both beginners and more advanced members thoughout the year. In addition, it offers courses for trainee demonstrators, judges and speakers as well as refresher days for those already qualified.
The Area Chairman attends regular National Advisory meetings with the NAFAS Board and chairmen of the other Areas. In addition, Area representatives attend similar National Committee meetings for judges, demonstrators, speakers, education, publications and media creating a useful two-way exchange of ideas throughout the Areas.
